Van Halen – “Hurricane Halen” 2004-09-17 – Phillips Arena, Atlanta, GA MP3 @VBR

Van Halen – “Hurricane Halen” 2004-09-17 – Atlanta, GA
(Soundboard)

For those that asked for it, here it is! Took me a long time to find it again. Enjoy!

OK. This is a band and a tour that is near and dear to my heart. This was the first tour with Sammy in about a decade, but Eddie was kind of messed up at the time. Some of the songs on this recording are awesome, and some the band sounds like crap. Sammy sounds great thru the whole thing. Some of the backup vocals are just flat out bad and Eddie screwed up some here and there. Even in the shape Eddie was in, this recording is of such good quality it is well worth having. A messed up Eddie Van Halen is still better than 90% of everyone else out there. Up For Breakfast, Eagles Fly and Seventh Seal are among my faves on here. Grab it and judge for yourself. Two different Album covers included.

R.I.P. Michael Jackson

I am very saddened by the death of Michael Jackson. My prayers are for the children and family he left behind.

Yes, Michael was a strange man, and possibly an un-convicted criminal, but he was also a product of exploitation from his youth, and I feel that he always was seeking to recover the childhood that was robbed from him.

I will always miss the performer that was Michael Jackson. He was one of a kind and a boundlessly blessed performer. After his performance of Billie Jean at Mowtown 25 in 1983, he recieved a call from Fred Astaire complimenting his dance moves. That's like Babe Ruth calling you and saying "that was some home run you hit" or Bruce Lee complimenting your fighting skills.

I saw Michael Jackson in concert twice, back to back nights at Giants Stadium on the Jacksons "Victory" tour. It was an unforgettable experience. His renditions of "She's Out Of My Life", the Jackson 5 songs of his youth (and mine) and the songs off his "Thriller" album were absolutely amazing.

The first night, my cousin and I left the stadium right after the last number in an attempt to beat the traffic out of the stadium. On our way to the car we passed a fenced in area that contained a helicopter. The helicopter rose and left the area within seconds of us being there and as it rose we could see a figure dressed in sequins in the passenger seat. My cousin said "it's him!" and we both waved excitedley. We were the only people around. A second later we could see one gloved hand waving back at us. It is a memory I will always treasure. The L-rd be with you Michael. I hope you have found peace.

Jimmy Page and Robert Plant - "Simple Truth" - The Shark Tank - San Jose, CA - May 20, 1995 "TISDU" FLAC & mp3

Jimmy Page and Robert Plant - "Simple Truth" - The Shark Tank - San Jose, CA - May 20, 1995 "TISDU"
Kiss the Stone Records - KTS 450/451
Superb Soundboard Recording probably from Pre-FM Broadcast.

This show was recorded by Westwood One and parts of it has been aired from time to time. I have the silvers from one of the broadcasts and only a few songs were aired at that time. This is the same quality, albeit mono, therefore I am led to believe this is from the master recording of this show. For some reason it was converted to mono (why the hell do the bootleggers do this?). I ripped it and did the Tisdu process on it, and it sounds much better than the original mono on the silvers, in my opinion.

This is a fresh rip of this 2-cd set by me. I Love this set and have the silvers so I thought I would rip it for those that don't have it.
Lineage: Silver CDs > Wav (CDex) > Tisdu using Audacity > Traders Little Helper/FLAC Level 8 > Front cover and details tagged to FLAC files using Mp3tag v2.42

I scanned all the artwork at 300 pixels per inch. The scans came out very good. Includes the whole fold-out insert, scans of the actual CD's and both sides of the tray insert. I haven't seen all this art anywhere else, not even the Zeppelin art website so I hope people enjoy having it.
m3u playlist files created as well.

OK. For more details on Tisdu, check this: http://www.geocities.com/michaelmcgennan/sound.html

Tisdu is basically simulated stereo. The interesting thing is that different things are heard in each ear even tho it is just "enhanced" Mono. What I did on this particular release is as follows: Ripped to wav, had both disc as full files and inserted .05 seconds of silence on the begining of the right channel, then upped the whole volume to 110% of the original (to give it a little more punch, there was no clipping), then reduced the left channel to 80% of that (see the Tisdu page above for the reason for that, I assure you the right side doesn't sound louder on the final product). Then I seperated each track from the whole and encoded to FLAC Level 8. I also split the Hurdy Gurdy Solo from Nobody's Fault but Mine and split Four Sticks from In The Evening. My preference. It's my party and I was doing this for me first, and that's the way I like it (uh-huh, uh-huh), so feel free to NOT like it if you want :-)

FFP, ST5 and MD5 files included with the FLAC version.

Track listing:

Disc 1:

Intro
Thank You
Bring It On Home
Ramble On
Shake My Tree
Intro 2
Lullaby
No Quarter

Hurdy Gurdy Solo
Nobody's Fault But Mine
Hey Hey What Can I Do?
The Song Remains The Same

Disc 2:

Since I've Been Loving You

Hope you enjoy!

Jimmy Page - Outrider Tour - Cleveland 10-19-1988 FLAC

Jimmy Page - Outrider Tour - Cleveland 10-19-1988 FLAC

This is from a French silver "The Outrider Tour" that was taken from an FM broadcast of the entire Cleveland show. The original artwork has incorrect info for the track listing. I photoshopped and corrected the track listing. I have included the wrong listing for those that might want it. I have seen the location listed as "Public Hall, Cleveland, Ohio", art says "Cleveland Music Hall". Unsure if this is pre-FM, though it seems that it is as there is no DJ banter etc.

01 Who's To Blame
02 Prelude
03 Over The Hills And Far Away
04 Tear Down The Walls
05 Emerald Eyes
06 Midnight Moonlight Lady
07 In My Time Of Dying
08 Wasting My Time
09 Custard Pie
10 Train Kept A Rollin'
11 Stairway To Heaven

Cast of players:

Guitar - Jimmy Page
Vocals - John Miles
Bass - Durban Laverde
Drums - Jason Bonham

John Miles is quite an outstanding singer with a great vocal range. He is able to pull off covering songs originally done by both Robert Plant and Paul Rodgers, two legendary vocalists, as well as singing songs originaly crooned by the great Chris Farlowe. To me, the highlight of this disc is Midnight Moonlight Lady. In the middle of MML, Jimmy breaks into White Summer, then Black Mountainside and back into MML. Wonderfully done.

Stevie Ray Vaughan & Double Trouble - Live In Tokyo DVD (NTSC)
No Artwork included in this one.

This is a DVD Rip (NTSC/US format) from a Laser Disc never released in the states. In will fit on a standard 4.7gb DVD. Theory has it that it wasn't released in the states because it was a sub par performance before SRV got clean. I saw him live in person both clean, and a little while before he went into rehab. He was much better clean (that's the way the good L-rd sent you down here folks), but I gotta tell you, even when he was messed up, he was better than 99% of the world's population. He was in a class all his own. I never got the chance to meet him, but I miss him like he were a dear friend. Enjoy this. Here is a little bit about Stevie written by his mother, Martha Vaughan http://tangledupinblues.com/mvletter.html

Marc Bolan's detractors never understood how he seemed in such total command of his game, not even after Electric Warrior's September 1971 release. This outtakes album shows why: Bolan's ability to meld garage smarts and a glam pop beat, which holds true for the two versions of his big American hit, "Get It On." The opening version is fairly identical to the finished article, but its pre-sweetened, six-minute companion is raw, rowdy, and untamed listening. Drummer Bill Legend and bassist Steve Currie had only just joined in the spring of 1971. To tighten things up, Bolan ran them through the feverish '50s-era paces of "Honey Don't". Two versions of "Monolith" further impressions of T. Rex locked in a garage. Anyone writing off Bolan as just another jaded teen-beat merchant will be in for a rude surprise: he's totally in command and always looking for a new angle -- such as on the electric "Cosmic Dancer." When that idea didn't pan out, Bolan recut it with a heavily orchestrated arrangement. But that's the mark of a creative mindset -- use what works and toss the discards. This is an essential snapshot behind the scenes of a classic rock album, and a great deal of fun, too.

Great look back at the often overlooked Marc Bolan & T-Rex. -RMac©

Robert Plant & The Strange Sensation: Exit Festival, Novi Sad, Serbia 7-12-2007 Pro Shot DVD (Pal)

Robert Plant and the Strange Sensation
2007.07.12
Novi Sad, Serbia
Exit Festival

Pro Shot DVD (Pal format)

Yes, this is PAL format. The US uses NTSC so this will not play in most American DVD players, but will play in computer drives. A friend also told me that this looked great on his HD TV using his XBox. I originally got this off a torrent site, unsure who uploaded it and what the lineage is, but trust me, this is just about the best concert video I have seen of Robert Plant in his post Zeppelin years. In my opinion it trumps almost anything during his Zeppelin years too. So to whomever originally uploaded this, thank you! Artwork for this one is available at the great Zeppelin Art site here . - RMac©

Here is the set list and it rocks full throttle right from the start:

I have uploaded an ISO file of the DVD, MD5 verification file is included. I recomend using ImgBurn to burn this and all DVD's, iso's, CD's whatever. It is available for free at http://www.imgburn.com/ Trust me, I used Nero faithfully for years till I got a new Dual Layer burner and started making a lot of coasters. I thought my drive was crap. Someone said to try imgburn and now, no more coasters.

I have also uploaded an m4v video file of the show for those of you who have an iTouch/iPhone. I play it on mine all the time and it looks and sounds great.

Led Zeppelin 12-10-2007 Reunion At The O2 - Excellent Audience MP3 @ 320 kbps

I don't think this really needs an introduction. This is a new and great recording of one of the most anticipated music events of the past 25 years. I don't have anymore info on who the taper was or how it was done, but if your a Zep fan it is worth the few minutes it will take to download. I added front cover artwork I made myself. Plenty of other artwork available at http://www.zeppelinart.com  - RMac®
